I went to the shops...
For children aged 5+
My son, Reuben, loves this game and it can really help children who know their letters and are beginning to understand about the first letter of a word.
Play it in the car or in the bath or just when you have a few minutes with nothing to do. It is a fantastic game for the memory and learning letters.
'I went to the shops today and bought an Avocado, a Banana and Captain America's pants.
How to play:
- Start by saying the phrase: 'I went to the shops today and bought...' something beginning with A, an avocado.
- Then ask the next to repeat the phrase, including the previous item and then add an item beginning with B. person continues by saying the previous item (apple) and then something beginning with B (e.g. banana).
- Keep going around the group adding more items from each letter of the alphabet.
- Have fun and make the kids laugh by choosing unusual and silly items e.g. a smelly sock!
